Understanding Medication Refill
vs Repeat Prescription

Medication Refill

Use this when you have:

  • An existing and valid prescription (less than one year from issue date)
  • Uncollected balance medications remaining

Repeat Prescription

Use this when you have:

  • An expired prescription
  • Insufficient medication to last until your next appointment

If your prescription has run out, you can submit a request to repeat your prescription. Your request will be sent to the doctor for review. Once approved, you'll need to submit a separate request to refill your medication.

Please ensure your contact details are up to date, as the healthcare institution may need to reach you during this process.

Things to Know

What is a prescription record? Where does HealthHub get my prescription records from?

Your prescription record shows medications prescribed for you. HealthHub retrieves records from selected public hospitals, polyclinics, and other healthcare institutions over the past 12 months, with the most recent at
the top.

Records are for reference only and may not contain all details from the prescription copy given to you. Always follow the latest instructions from your healthcare professionals (doctors, pharmacists, nurses).

If you need urgent access to your prescription record, please contact your healthcare provider directly.

Can I use my prescription records to buy medication at the pharmacy?

No. The displayed information is only a record and NOT a prescription.
It cannot be used to purchase medications.

How do I check what is my prescription/medication
balance that I have left to collect?

You can view your existing prescriptions with balance medications on HealthHub. For clinical safety, prescriptions are only valid for a year after their date of issue.

Follow these steps:

  1. Log in to your HealthHub app and tap Medication refill under Quick Links
  2. Select the institution that issued the prescription.
If prompted, select your prescription ID
  3. You can now view your prescription/medication balance
What is the difference between Medication Refill and Repeat Prescription?

A Medication Refill applies if you have an existing valid prescription (less than one year from date of issue) with uncollected balance medications, and no changes in dosage since your last collection.

A Repeat Prescription applies if your prescription has expired, or if you have insufficient medication to last until your next appointment. Your request is directed to the relevant clinic and is subject to doctor approval.

Can I walk-in to refill my medication from my prescription?

Walk-in refills are subject to each healthcare institution’s policies. Please check with the relevant pharmacy before your visit.

To reduce waiting time, we recommend submitting your refill request through HealthHub.

You can collect your medication in person or have it delivered. Place your order at least two weeks before your current supply runs out.

What can I do if I did not receive any updates on my
medication refill request? Where can I check for updates?

Log in to HealthHub using Singpass and navigate to Services > Medications > Medication refill history to check your request status.

If you cannot view your request status or have not received any updates, please contact the pharmacy of the healthcare institution that issued your prescription.

Who can I contact if my appointments are not showing up on HealthHub?

HealthHub currently does not display appointments from the National Skin Centre.

If you have appointments from other healthcare providers that are not appearing on HealthHub, please contact our support team at contact_us@healthhub.sg for assistance.
